FATHER'S TWO-CENTS WORTH
Today is Father’s Day, and is a special day to recognize our fathers, both living and deceased. So often, we do not appreciate what our fathers have given to us. In some cases, they could have been a better example of God’s love and care than they were, or are at the present. By far, our fathers have given us so much of their time taking us places, camping, helping us out, doing things for us, and mainly supporting us through their work that made possible our homes, our food, our clothing, our education, and so much more. Usually, they took care, or are taking care presently, of our needs. Our wants and wishes have been and will be prudential options. Thank them, bless them, pray for them! They are human! They need our cooperation and support to be good fathers. And most of all, forgive them! Forgive them as we want to be forgiven! And fathers, do the same. There will be no masses on Wednesday and Thursday. I am having cataract surgery on my right eye early on Wednesday. Although it is a routine procedure and has a 95% success rate, I live with a blood disorder that I bleed easily. Pray that all goes well for me! I know that many have had this procedure with great success and comfort. I hope that I can be able to rejoice as you have. We had our “make-up” blood drive on Saturday, and I have no figures for this drive. The drive on Thursday, June 5th, went well. We had a goal of 85 units of whole blood; 954 people presented themselves to donate; 4 were first-time donors; 76 productive units were collected; 8 donors gave to the ALYX procedure for Red Blood cells, and each unit was credited as equal to 2 units of whole blood. So we got credit for 92 units of blood. Thanks for all who came to give blood and to help out that Thursday. I hope that Saturday's drive was equally successful. We must think about the other person, the good that we can do to save someone’s life. Fear of the needle is a real item, although it is "all about me". To know that I could have saved a life, and did not even try, is not heroic, or loving. We need donors, we need workers, we need salespersons/promoters! Our Right of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) will be starting up in September. If you know of anyone who might be interested in the Catholic faith, and becoming a Catholic, please contact the rectory, or K.K. Schneider. Most new members come to our church, or any church, because of that church’s members,. who reflect the love of Christ, and the care of Christ by their actions and attitudes. Are we reflecting Christ? Baptism Class last Sunday had five couples in attendance. Thank you for coming. I hope that you learned something, or got a deeper appreciation for the Sacrament. Pray for the victims of the flooding over by Lawrenceville, and the eastern counties of our diocese. Pray for all those afflicted by the high water in Indiana, Iowa, Illinois, Wisconsin and Minnesota. The states below us will be getting their share of floodwater soon. Pray for the sick of our parish, those in the hospital, nursing homes, and at home. Pray also for the doctors, and all in the healthcare service who work to keep people healthy.
THANK YOU: We wish to thank all the committee people who made Father Hartlein's day the "Best Day Ever" and one we won't forget. It was great! The Parish Family

"Could you not then watch one hour with me?"
"Holiness does not consist in doing extraordinary things. It consists in accepting, with a smile, what Jesus sends us. It consists in accepting and following the will of God."
