FATHER'S TWO CENTS WORTH

In last week's bulletin, I stated that I would have my “61st” anniversary.  Typo!  51st Anniversary!   A typing error!  No use to make myself older than I really am!

This week is the last week of school.  School is out on Wednesday.  I beg you parents to set a good example of faith to your children throughout the summer—Sunday Mass, prayers, doing good deeds, helping out at church.  There is no vacation from our vocation as being good Catholics.  Children imitate what the elder do, especially their parents!  Please! Please! Reinforce their Catholic Faith and practices by your own faith and your practice of your faith!

Blood Drive this week—Thursday from 2 to 7 P.M.  I will be needing help at noon to unload the Red Cross truck, and again, around 7:l5 P.M. to reload it.  Anyone who can help out will be greatly appreciated.  We also need blood donors to come and give blood to save lives.  Our goal is 85 units of blood.  Please mark your calendar, put up some sort of reminder at home or work that you need to give blood.  What a precious gift you have when you can give blood to save someone’s life.  Our “Make-Up Drive" will be on Saturday, June 13th, from 9 A.M. to 2 P.M.

Summer really begins this week, and many are making plans to travel.  I booked plane reservations today to go to Whistler, British Columbia, in Canada the last two weeks of July with Fr. Hitpas.  Many of us will be traveling and camping at some time or other during this summer.  Please do not forget to continue supporting your parish financially.  Our bills keep coming at a regular pace.  Salaries for all of our employees and teachers are on a twelve month schedule.  All want these benefits ready when you return!  Please continue to support your church, even when you are not here!

Many thanks to Christine Wingate, who planted all of the flowers around the north side of the church, and promises to water and take care of them throughout the summer.  We all like our grounds to be nice and neat.  It takes hands and time of generous persons to make it happen.

Thanks to Tom Norrenberns, who regularly mows lawn around the “church block”.  These past few weeks, it seems that it happens about twice a week.  Thanks, Tom, for your gift of time and talent to our parish.

I need someone to run the edge trimmer around the sidewalks and curbing.  We have the machine to do the job.  We just need a person to give the time to do the job.  Can you help out in this task?  Call Fr. Hartlein, (566-2958) or check with Dave Kerwin, our custodian.

Have a good summer, a happy summer, and a blessed summer!  Stay close to your God!

 FOOD PANTRY BUILDING COLLECTION:

The fourth Sunday of the month, we will have our second collection to help pay for the renovation of the Food Pantry, which is also Shepherd Sunday. Checks should be made payable to Holy Childhood; memo: Food Pantry Building. Groceries and cash donations are also needed to maintain the food pantry for the needy. Money collected for the supplies will be kept separate from the building renovation fund.

EUCHARISTIC ADORATION

Every moment that we spend

in the presence of the blessed sacrament

will leave our soul everlastingly more glorious and beautiful in heaven,

because the blessed sacrament is Jesus, our risen Savior,

with all the glory and beauty of His resurrection

flowing out on those who come into His Eucharistic presence.

Even if you cannot pray very well

or even if you do not say anything at all,

the mere fact that you come to Him in the blessed sacrament

is, in itself, a prayer of faith that will greatly benefit your soul."

(Pathway to Holiness, John J. Cardinal Carberry).

Our Lord is waiting for us in  Eucharistic Adoration,

held every Tuesday following the 8 AM Mass until 7 PM

and on Saturday from 9-10 AM.

This summer we hope you will continue to attend Mass, to pray often with formal prayers and prayers that come from the heart.  May God bless and keep you safe during the summer.
