FATHER'S TWO CENTS WORTH

I am writing this column on Sunday, July 19th, before I head off to Canada.  I have my luggage pretty well packed, and hopefully is not over-weight.  It is a good thing that they do not weigh the passengers;  I would probably be in deep doo-doo.   By the time you are reading this bulletin, I will be in Whistler, Canada, north of Vancouver, where the January, 2010, Winter Olympics will be held.  Where ever we go this coming week is a matter of choice for us; we will be home on Friday of this week.  I will probably go to Mound City on Saturday for a family reunion of old parishioners, who were a great help and support when I was stationed there.  Mass will be covered and I will be back on Saturday evening.

This week, we begin the month of August.  Where has the time gone?  School begins on the 20th of August, and our Picnic is the 22nd.  For me, this summer has raced by at a break-neck speed.  I am sure that many of you can say the same.  Try to make the best of what remains of your vacation time.   Come to Mass and pray for peace and your own good.  What you invest, is what you will receive!

I know that it is summer and we tend to be more relaxed in our life styles.  Mass is a celebration of our union with Christ in the Eucharist.  It is Christ doming to us and doing us the favor  of His blessing and His life.  We are not doing Him the favor by attending Mass.  When we put Christ and the Mass in second place, and not a priority in our lives, we soon forget that we depend on Him for anything good in our lives.

Please remember all of us of our commitment to being the Body of Christ, the Parish Family.  If we work together and have the concern for each other as we would want them to have concern for us, if they were in our position.  It is being "The Good Shepherd" that we expect Jesus to be for us and the extensions of Jesus' life to have for others.  Please help all that you can to make our Parish Stand at the Homecoming a success as well as our Church Picnic.

Some "Smile Links" to think about:

My husband & I divorced over religious differences.  He thought he was God and I didn't.

I don't suffer from insanity;  I enjoy every minute of it.

Some people are alive only because it it illegal to kill them.

I'm not a complete idiot -- Some parts are just missing.

God must love stupid people;  He made so many.

Ever stop to think, and forget to start again?
