YOUNG ADULTS in the Catholic Church are left out in what may be the most challenging period in their faith journey. What happens between CYO (18) and Adult Ministries (30s)? Nothing at the moment; want to help make a change or be part of a Steering Committee? Join us Tuesday, August 11, 2009 at 7 p.m. in the Parish Center to discuss different ways and possibilities to make a place for young adults within our community -- a place to gather. Refreshments will be provided. If you have any questions please contact Kahiwalani Cornman at 618.920.8645.

THANK YOU TO THE FOLLOWING YOUNG ADULTS WHO CAME TO WASH WINDOWS AT THE RECTORY. WE APPRECIATE YOUR HELP!

EUCHARISTIC ADORATION

"A priest once recorded how a gentleman came every day for a short time

and sat in the back of church.

When asked if he was praying, the man replied

'No, I come in here, I sit down, I look at Jesus, and He looks at me.'

Is that all? he was asked. The man whispered, 'what else is there?"

Whenever there is adoration of the Blessed Sacrament

we can enter, look at Jesus,

and let Him look at us!

If we do not know what to say we can say nothing.

Our Heavenly Father knows what we need even when we do not."

(Hope for the Journey, Father Jack Spalding.)

Visit Jesus in Eucharistic Adoration  every Tuesday

following the 8 AM Mass until 7 PM,

and on Saturday from 9-10 AM.

If you would like to commit

to a specific hour to pray on Tuesdays,

please call Mary Ellen Mueller at 566-9529.

Dear Friends,

Last week the gospel was the multiplication of the fish and loaves. While there are many ways to look at it, one question I have is, “Will we follow Jesus after the miracles?” As you know 5,000 were fed but less than 5 were standing at the cross when Jesus died.  The challenge is to follow Jesus during the summer.   When a child dies, a spouse dies, a tragedy happens, we disagree with someone, will we still follow? Will we follow when we don’t feel like going to church, or taking time to pray? Will we still follow when there are no answers to ‘why’? It is a challenge. Today Jesus says He is the Bread of Life. The answer is clear, the challenge is to listen and to follow.

New registrations for the 09-10 school years are now being accepted. Please call the school office at 566-2922.

God bless you,

Deacon Ron Karcher

Principal
