FATHER'S TWO CENTS WORTH
Thanks to all who came to honor Mary on the Feast of Her Assumption into Heaven. I know that it is not a Holy Day of Obligation this year due to being on a Saturday. However it is still a Holy Day honoring Mary, our Mother. And we are so grateful to Her for giving to us herself to be the Mother of Our Savior, Jesus Christ. On this day, we honor her being taken back into Heaven to receive her eternal reward.
Well! This is the big week! We begin preparations after last years picnic, looking at what works and what does not! And how we can improve! New stands, managers, workers, etc.! Then, comes spring, and the plans made last year, now start to go into action—raffle tickets, quilts, lay-out, games, youth activities. And it all comes together this week for the great PICNIC! We will need picnic workers all this week, especially on Monday, as we set up bingo stands and other stands. Many hands are needed to unload the truck, and place the parts around the site for easy assembly. What is so important is to take our time and work together. Haste makes Waste! Haste also hurts people, both physically as well as emotionally. As big as the need is on Monday, there is then the follow-up of details—lighting poles, trash barrels, testing lights, all through the week, help is needed. Some things cannot be done until the last days, the last moments, such as PA systems, bingo boards, bingo cards, signage for stands, stocking of prizes in the stands, etc. Putting up the tarps over the stands is a last day job, putting away items that are not needed, or that may be “back-up” materials—all last day work. That is why we ask for help, young and old on Saturday, both in the morning and in the afternoon. MASS WILL BE AT 4 P.M. ON SATURDAY! PRAY FOR GOOD WEATHER AND A SUCCESSFUL PICNIC—THAT ALL ARE WILLING TO WORK TOGETHER AND DO THEIR PART, AND MAYBE A LITTLE BIT MORE WHERE NEEDED!
SCHOOL STARTS THIS WEEK! Thursday will be a partial day of school. Picnic stands will be set up on the grounds. Please be careful if and when you bring your children to school. The same applies to Friday, which will be a full day of school for the children. All will go to mass that day. I encourage parents to go to mass during the week when their children attend mass and more often if you can. It is a great example to your children of your faith alive—your need for God in your lives, and your need to pray and receive the Eucharist. Honestly—be honest with yourself-What can be more valuable to your lives here and in eternity than your union with God and Christ through prayers and the Eucharist? Who and what will you put first, then second?
Thanks to the following CYO members who came to clean church this past Wednesday: John Clayton, Julie Holdener, Sami Renth, Jacob Raben, Sabrina Cyphers, Mrs. Cathy Renth, and Mrs. Debbie Hulliung. Your kindness and generosity is greatly appreciated.
Reminder: RED CROSS BLOOD DRIVE ON THURSDAY, AUGUST 27TH, FROM 2 TO 7 P.M. “MAKE-UP” BLOOD DRIVE WILL BE ON SATURDAY, SEPT. 12TH, FROM 9 A.M. TO 2 P.M. Red Cross wants me to try to arrange for appointments to get a more even-flow of donors, and cut down on your “wait” time. Can we do it? Will we? At any rate, plan to give blood and save some lives!

EUCHARISTIC ADORATION
"As the Blessed Virgin once said, 'The most important thing in the spiritual life is to ask for the gifts of the Holy Spirit. When the Holy Spirit comes, then peace will be established. Pray to the Holy Spirit for enlightenment. Ask the Holy Spirit to renew your souls, to renew the entire world. Raise your hands, yearn for Jesus because in His Resurrection He wants to fill you with graces'." (Secrets of the Eucharist, Michael H. Brown)
Visit Jesus in Eucharistic Adoration every Tuesday following the 8 AM Mass until 7 PM, and on Saturday from 9-10 AM. If you would like to commit to a specific hour to pray on Tuesdays, please call Mary Ellen Mueller at 566-9529.

Dear Friends,
It seems a deacon installed hot-air hand dryers in the church restrooms. But after two weeks he removed them.
When asked he confessed that they worked fine but one day he went into the restroom and saw a sign above the dryer that said,” For a sample of this weeks sermon, push the button.
Sincerely,
Deacon Ron Karcher Principal
Please come each evening this week at 6 p.m. to help with picnic setup. Saturday morning setup is at 8 am.
