FATHER'S TWO CENTS WORTH
June is past, and so is half of 2010. We are now on the downward slope, with the days getting shorter, and the end of the year nearer. But it also brings us closer to events in this summer that are still to come and of great importance to our parish, and our local community. Homecoming is coming up in just four weeks, and our parish is again in charge of the Hamburger Stand. Please plan to take a shift during the time that helps support our park and ball diamonds. Jimmy Amann is again, taking care of this phase. Give him your support when he calls on you, or you call him. And then at the end of August, we have our Parish Picnic which is so vital to the support of our school. Even now, we can help make this a success as we make our quilt donations for the bingo, and other items for the various stands. We all want the benefits of the picnic successes. We all, each member of our parish, need to be there to make it the success we desire. We can even now start praying for the good weather that we will need. Stacie Cornman is our Picnic Chairperson. Give her the help when she calls for your support.
Next Saturday, at 9:00 A.M., we will have the quarterly Mass of Anointing of Sick and the Elderly. Really, this is the healing service of the church, not the last rites, as we have been accustomed to see it. It does not speed up our death or demise. Rather, it heals us, especially spiritually, and many times physically, so that we may live out our lives in accord with God’s plan. For those who are seriously ill, or those who are over 65, please come and join us, praying for one another, supporting one another, and being blessed by the Sacrament as well as the Eucharist. Put up a reminder at home so you can be present.
Our new Associate Pastor, Fr. Abraham will arrive at our parish on the 13th of this month. We are planning a reception, or welcoming, on the week-end of 17-18th. Final plans will be in next Sunday’s bulletin.
Our Bishop has been making visits to the parishes of our diocese to meet with parishioners and dialogue with them, as well as with all those in leadership positions. He will be at our parish on the week-end of July 24th and 25th. He will be the celebrant at all of the masses, and wants to meet with the parishioners after the masses, and especially, after our main mass (10:30). He encourages us to make plans to come to that particular mass. We will be publishing his letter to the parish next week-end as an insert to the bulletin.
Many thanks to those men who came to trim the shrubbery around the rectory, church and the parish center two weeks ago. This has been an annual task for Ray Klein, Othmar Klein, Larry Wilhelm, Jason Klein, Jeremy Schanz, Jamie Schanz, and others who I can not list since I was not here to hassle them. Thanks fellows for the fine job of taking care of the shrubs, and cleaning up the debris that accumulated during the winter on this side of the block. Thanks also to those who have been taking care of the flowers around church, and watering them when needed. We all like the beauty of the flowers, but they take work and time. I also thank the CYO boys and girls, along with Kathy Renth, who came and washed the windows in the rectory. There are 54 windows in the building. Fortunately, with the new energy efficient windows. they can be easily cleaned from the inside of the house. However, someone still has to do it. Thanks for caring, CYOers.

EUCHARISTIC ADORATION
"Every moment that we spend in the presence of the blessed sacrament will leave our soul everlastingly more glorious and beautiful in heaven, because the blessed sacrament is Jesus, our risen Savior, with all the glory and beauty of His resurrection flowing out on those who come into His Eucharistic presence. Even if you cannot pray very well or even if you do not say anything at all, the mere fact that you come to Him in the blessed sacrament is, in itself, a prayer of faith that will greatly benefit your soul." (Pathway to Holiness, John J. Cardinal Carberry).
Our Lord is waiting for us in Eucharistic Adoration held every Tuesday following the 8 AM Mass until 7 PM and on Saturday from 9-10 AM.
