FATHER'S TWO CENTS WORTH

Vernon; Cletus Mueth (posthumously) St. Michael, Paderborn; Dr. Renato Rivera, MD-St. Dominic, Breese.  The nominees will be recognized at a special reception and dinner, Sat. Sept. 18 at St. Nicholas Parish Center, O’Fallon. To attend the dinner, or to place a congratulatory ad in the Messenger’s special section, call 233-8670.  Reservations required. Cost of dinner $25 per person.

 

YOUTH MINISTRY PIZZA PARTY KICK-OFF: Mark your calendars for Holy Childhood's 3rd Annual Youth Ministry Pizza Party Kick-off. It will be held on Saturday, September 18th following the 5:30 Mass. Bring the whole family and sign up for Little Flowers, Blue Knights, and The Edge (K-8). There will be pizza, registration, a short introductory meeting, illuminated rosary, family Olympics, and more! The cost is $4.00 per person. Potluck and Presentation: Holy Childhood Adult Education Committee and Small Christian Communities would like to invite the entire parish to attend a potluck and presentation on “What It Means to Be Catholic” to be given by Father Oscar Lukefahr at 6:30pm on Thursday September 16, 2010 in the school cafeteria. There will be sign-up for the potluck and presentation after Mass on September 4/5 and September 11/12. Also, if you would like more information on joining a small community of 8-12 parishioners this fall, to learn and discuss the Catholic faith, but are unable to attend the potluck, please contact the rectory or johnpettinger@yahoo.com.

SHEPHERD SUNDAY, SEPT. 26:  The Mascoutah Concerned Christians Food Pantry needs the following items this month:  cereal, pancake mix, instant mashed potatoes or other boxed potatoes, rice & rice “sides”, canned tomatoes, shampoo, bathroom tissue.  They also need used grocery bags. Thank you for supporting the food pantry.

Visit Jesus in Eucharistic Adoration  every Tuesday following the 8 AM Mass until 7 PM, and on Saturdays from 9-10 AM. If you would like to commit to a specific hour to pray on Tuesdays, please call Mary Ellen Mueller at 566-9529.

WAYS YOU CAN HELP HCS:

¨ Bring 1 ream of copy paper to the office

Recycling of aluminum – We have containers in the school for aluminum cans.  If you have a bag of cans, bring it in and we will store it in the shed and take it in.

 

GIFT CARD REFUND PROGRAM:  HCS families who purchase gift cards through the school earn credit toward their tuition bill, lunch bill and school fees.  Gift cards can be purchased in the school office during normal school hours and in the gathering space at church after weekend Masses.  Contact Debbie Bunn at 566-2866 or debbunn@yahoo.com with any questions.

ST. BERNARD QUILT BINGO Sept. 19 beginning at 7:30 pm (doors open at 6:00 pm). Held at Albers American Legion in Albers, IL.

NEED TO CLEAN OUT YOUR CLOSETS OR BASEMENT? Corpus Christi Ladies Club Annual Rummage Sale- Saturday, Sept 25th To help our New Church and a variety of charities. We will accept donations of gently used clothes, furniture, household items etc., including paper and plastic bags. (Please NO undergarments or building material).
