The 2011 Catholic Men's conference is being held on Sat., Jan 29th. Parishioners of Holy Childhood parish will be carpooling to this event. Join us for our first annual Catholic Schools Week sale. We will have books and gifts for 1st Communion, Confirmation, Easter and other various items. We will be open in the parish center after masses on Jan 29th and 30th. It will continue Mon, Wed, and Fri from 8 a.m. -12 p.m.; Tues and Thurs 5:30 – 8:30 pm in the school cafeteria. Hunger isn’t just a Third World problem. One in six people in America live in food insecure households. Catholic Youth Organization will be taking up a second collection for “Souper Bowl for Caring” on Super Bowl Sunday (February 6) to help tackle hunger. All donations will benefit local charities. CYO appreciates your continued support.

EUCHARISTIC ADORATION

RECYCLING: Thank you for continuing to recycle paper. From December 15 – 30, over 21.53 cubic yards or 6.9 tons was recycled. We also received $100 for winning the AbiBow Recycling Challenge of 25 tons. Thank you.

Cursillo (pronounced Cur-see-O): A Cursillo Weekend is a short course in Christianity. It is a powerful instrument of renewal in the Catholic Church and provides a method to continue the Christian formation, which is begun in the three day weekend. The Cursillo Weekend begins on a Thursday evening and ends on a Sunday evening. Those attending live, work, pray and play together. Daily Mass, Communion, Reconciliation and Spiritual Direction are provided, along with food and lodging. A Cursillo Weekend is an encounter with Christ. Attend a Cursillo weekend and experience Christ’s love for you in a very special way. The next Belleville Diocesan Cursillo in Christianity 2010 Men’s Weekend will be held February 17 - 20. The Diocese of Belleville and the Office of Worship will be offering five workshops across the diocese on the English translation of the Third Edition of the Roman Missal which will be implemented on the First Sunday of Advent – November 27, 2011. These workshops will invite participants to see beyond the technical changes in order to affect real change in the liturgical life of the parish community.
