FATHER'S TWO CENTS WORTH

Happy Easter, Everyone!  A Blessed Easter, Everyone!

Lent is over, technically speaking!  But the fruits of Lent, and the growth of our spirit that we experienced during Lent, should continue over the rest of our lives and continue to grow each day.  As we have often said, Lent is not merely penance to make up for past sins -- we can't really do that!  Lent is a time to grow in our relationship with God, so that together, with God's help, we can grow in being the human being that God wants us to be -- his image and likeness!  So, if we go back to eating chocolate, ice cream, cake, sweets, whatever -- that is OK, providing we keep close to God in our spiritual works and prayers.  During Lent, we tried to die with Christ, in order that we could rise with Him.  Hopefully, we can all rejoice in knowing our God better, our dependence on Him and His desire to help us, and that we find new happiness in sharing and loving our neighbor as we love ourselves.  Then God is in us!

Next week, we will have First Communion at 2:00 pm for our second grade students.  Please pray for these little ones, that they will have all of the help they need to know their God in the Eucharist, and that they can receive the Eucharist as often as possible.  Pray for the parents, that they will be good examples of faith and lead their children to God through Mass and the Eucharist.  They depend on us for example and help!

May is a busy month.  In fact, the rest of this month and May are busy.  Like I said above, next Sunday is First Communion.  The following Sunday is Mother's Day.  It will also be our day to recognize and honor our high school graduates at the 10:30 mass.  The following Sunday is Holy Childhood School graduation.  In between these Sundays,

May 12, the Bishop will be here to confer the Sacrament of Confirmation.  And for myself, I see a window to get away and see my brother in Iowa the week of May 2nd to 6th --- between First Communion and Mother's Day.  I hope it works out that way, anyways.

As we enter into the warmer months, and the summer time, I believe that it is proper to remind all persons that church is the house of our God, and that our attire (clothing) should reflect our respect for God and His church.  What might be OK for play, or for the park, or camping, or what we might wear casually, oftentimes are not proper for church.  Coming to church is coming to meet our God, who is our life and our salvation.  It is a place that calls us to have proper respect for our God in how we act, and what we wear.  Meeting our God in church is not the same as meeting  our friends or anyone anywhere else.  Please dress properly!

EUCHARISTIC ADORATION

"We need to go to the Lord first, continually and last.

When we are sad, He is our consolation.

When we have no joy, He brings us hope.

When we are weak, He is our strength.

When we are frightened, He is our courage.

He heals us when we need to be healed,

and fills us with all that we need, when we go to Him.

He will not impose His will upon us.

We decide, ourselves, whether or not to be open to the Lord and to all the incredible gifts He gives. "

Visit Jesus in Eucharistic Adoration  every Tuesday following the 8 AM Mass until 7 PM,

and on Saturdays from 9-10 AM.

If you would like to commit to a specific hour to pray on Tuesdays,

please call Mary Ellen Mueller at 566-9529.
