FATHER'S TWO CENTS WORTH
I hope that everyone had a very blessed Easter, even though the weather was not favorable for many activities normal to Easter. For me, it was God’s way of saying to stay together, stay in, and enjoy one another. Maybe it was God’s way to make us learn to know one another and become family again. At any rate, whatever you did on Easter, I hope that it was a Happy Easter, and that you grew in the love of God, and God living in you. Rejoice and be glad that our God loves us so much as to become one of us!
Today, at 2:00 P.M., the second grade students will be receiving their First Holy Communion here at Church. This is a special event in their lives as they receive Jesus in the Eucharist for the first time. It is the beginning of a new relationship with their God, as we come body and blood into their lives, and to live there as long as they will let Him do so. Pray for the children! Pray for the parents, that they may be examples of Eucharistic Piety, and lead their children to God by word and example—frequently!
Today also, is the Beatification of Pope John Paul II, in Rome, the first step in the process of declaring him a Saint in the Catholic Church. I am sure that this event will be televised all over the world, since he was so widely renowned.
Today is also the Feast of St. Joseph, the Worker. May 1st was, and is, a special holiday in the former Communist countries honoring the Communist regime and its workers. The church wanted to honor the workers by making the feast of St. Joseph the Worker without the governmental nuances, on May 1st. The feast is not celebrated due to May 1 falling on Sunday, the Octave of Easter.
Next Sunday is Mother’s Day. It is also Pro-Life Sunday, and our Pro-Life members will be selling roses at all entrances to honor our mothers, and also to raise funds to help the Pro-Life cause.
Next Sunday, we will be recognizing our Holy Childhood students who are graduating from High School, at the10:30 Mass. We ask them to wear their caps and gowns, to process in at the start of mass and occupy the front seats on the left side of church. It is the time that the Alumni Academic Award is granted. Please come.
This coming week seems to be the only week that I can go visit my brother in Iowa, in view of all of the activities and events that take place in May. So I will depart early Monday morning and come back Friday evening. The only way that I can communicate with him at present is by letter, or through some other person. The last report that I was able to get is that he is doing very well mentally, playing cards, joking, and being his old self. He has to use a walker or wheelchair at present, and hopefully through therapy, he will be less restricted by these aids.
SPECIAL THANKS TO HOLY CHILDHOOD PARISH Year after year, you, the parishioners of Holy Childhood Parish, under the wonderful leadership of Msgr. Please accept our heartfelt gratitude for your support and SPECIAL CONGRATULATIONS on being the FIRST parish in the diocese to exceed its CSMA financial goal! Thank you again so very much. God’s richest blessings to each of you and your families. ---- Bishop Braxton and the 17 grateful agencies funded by The Catholic Service and Ministry Appeal

EUCHARISTIC ADORATION
"We need to go to the Lord first, continually and last. When we are sad, He is our consolation. When we have no joy, He brings us hope. When we are weak, He is our strength. When we are frightened, He is our courage. He heals us when we need to be healed, and fills us with all that we need, when we go to Him. He will not impose His will upon us. We decide, ourselves, whether or not to be open to the Lord and to all the incredible gifts He gives. "
Visit Jesus in Eucharistic Adoration every Tuesday following the 8 AM Mass until 7 PM, and on Saturdays from 9-10 AM. If you would like to commit to a specific hour to pray on Tuesdays, please call Mary Ellen Mueller at 566-9529.
