FATHER'S TWO CENTS WORTH

As I write this column, the school dinner auction is still in the making.  By the time you get this bulletin, it will be a reality.  I want to thank all those who have supported the auction over the past many years, and all those who have worked so hard to make it a success.  It started out as a fund raiser to help the school get items not in the budget.  It has now become a vital part of the budget, just like the golf scramble, and the Annual Fund.  Many dedicated persons have given generously of their time and talents to make this event a success, and to help our school.  It also helps the parish meet the needs of a Catholic education for our children, and a place for our parish to have many events.  Sincere thanks, again, to all who give so generously to make the auction a success.

On Monday, October 17, Fr. Abraham will have the second of his series on “The Changes in the New Mass,” which will begin on the first Sunday of Advent, November 27th.  His talk will be here in church, and will begin at 7:00 P.M.  It will be a good time to prepare yourself for this major event in our church.

On Tuesday evening, in the parish center, at 7:00 p.m., we will have the first meeting with the Leadership members of our parish concerning the Pastoral Plan for our diocese.  We ask all those who were notified and sent materials to be prepared to evaluate our parish, and to offer honest reflections on what we could do better, what we are doing right, and how we might be of help in view of the shortage of priests in our diocese.  As mentioned before, we will have another meeting open to all of the parishioners for their input.  All this is going into the planning process, and nothing will be happening for several years to come, if then.  But all parishes are required, even those in our highly populated and growing communities.

Thanks to all who came to Rosary and Benediction on Wednesday evening.  We had about thirty in attendance.  We will have Rosary and Benediction again this week at 5:30 P.M.  At 6:30 P.M., there will be the Youth Adoration and Holy Hour here in church.  Also at 6:30 P.M. in the Parish Center, Mr. Russ Peterson from the Office of Education will be here to speak to our teachers.  And where the choir is going to fit in, I do not know!  They seem to be kicked around the most and still called upon to perform!

Next Saturday, after the 5:30 Mass, there will be “Trunk or Treat” (Halloween event) for our school children on the school’s playground.  It is a controlled environment for our children to do Halloween with their parents (sometimes they too), and be safe.  Be good!

We will be having a Blood Drive on Thursday, November 3rd, from 2 to 7 P.M.  Red Cross asked if we could squeeze in another drive at this time to help meet the shortage of blood.  There will be no “follow-up” drive for this time—only on this Thursday.  In this way, we can satisfy the time lapse between our last drive and still have enough time for the blood drive after Christmas.  If you can give blood this time, please do so, since you are helping save lives.  It is only three weeks away.

Again, keep praying for the sick of our parish and those requests to our Prayer Chain!

EUCHARISTIC ADORATION

"We need to go to the Lord first, continually and last.

When we are sad, He is our consolation.

When we have no joy, He brings us hope.

When we are weak, He is our strength.

When we are frightened, He is our courage.

He heals us when we need to be healed,

and fills us with all that we need, when we go to Him.

He will not impose His will upon us.

We decide, ourselves, whether or not to be open to the Lord and to all the incredible gifts He gives. "

Visit Jesus in Eucharistic Adoration  every Tuesday following the 8 AM Mass until 7 PM,

and on Saturdays from 9-10 AM.
