FATHER'S TWO CENTS WORTH
Again, we return to our God and Creator two members of our parish, who passed away this last week. Theresa Waigand, who was 87, died this past Tuesday, and was buried Friday afternoon. Theresa was a kindly person, who helped out where she could, and when she wanted to. For many years, on Fridays, she would come to the rectory and help assemble the Sunday bulletin. She was faithful to her parish and to her Catholic faith.
Joe Bechtoldt passed away on Wednesday morning and was buried on Saturday morning. Joe was at the Silver Creek Assisted living home. He also was a senior citizen, being 95 years old. He was a very active person as long as his health allowed it, doing many jobs. He was a great talker! He was also very faithful to our parish, and to being a good Catholic.
This afternoon, at 2:00 P.M., there will be Baptism Class for those needing it in preparation for their child to receive this Sacrament. It will be in the Parish Center.
On Wednesday evening, the Althoff High School Banquet will take place at Our Lady of Snows Shrine restaurant. The social part starts at 6:15, and the supper at 7:00 P.M. Thanks to all who are attending. We have only one student attending Althoff Catholic High School at the present, and one attending Mater Dei High School. We are grateful to the parents who make this sacrifice to send their children to Catholic High School and further reinforce the Catholic faith that was begun in Holy Childhood Parish.
On Thursday morning, Holy Childhood Parish will be sending seventy persons, youth and adult chaperones, to the National Catholic Youth Conference in Indianapolis, IN. The meeting point this year for the Belleville Deanery will be here at Holy Childhood Parish, instead of the Pastoral Center in Belleville. We have more than a whole bus load from our parish! There will probably be some cars parked on our front parking Lot until we arrive back on Sunday. We hope to keep their parking of cars along Main Street, and over on the John Street side. There should not be too many cars, I hope!
Next Sunday, the Community Thanksgiving Service will be at St. John’s U.C.C. church, beginning at 6:00 P.M. It would be great if many of our parishioners would be there to represent the largest church family in Mascoutah. We all have much to pray for as needs, and much to thank God for in our blessings. Our presence will be a great sign to the community of our faith in God, and appreciation for our blessings. Making time for God and community can help build our own faith, as well as the faith of others. Please make the effort to come and pray together.
On Thanksgiving Day, Holy Childhood Parish will have mass at 9:00 A.M. Here we will receive the Body and Blood of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, to strengthen us to make this world a better world, to work together for the good of our parish family and our own families, and to thank God for the blessings we and our family have received. And one of the greatest blessings that we have is being alive, and the health we “think” we have! We take so much for granted, owed to us, expected of others, and fail to comprehend that our lives are gifts, and all that we have is a gift from God. Come, pray this day, and show God that we truly love Him, and want to be with Him always!

EUCHARISTIC ADORATION
"We need to go to the Lord first, continually and last. When we are sad, He is our consolation. When we have no joy, He brings us hope.
When we are weak, He is our strength. When we are frightened, He is our courage. He heals us when we need to be healed, and fills us with all that we need, when we go to Him.
He will not impose His will upon us. We decide, ourselves, whether or not to be open to the Lord and to all the incredible gifts He gives. "

Next week we will take up the Collection for the Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD). CCHD was founded 40 years ago by the bishops of the United States when they realized that the lives of those in need would not improve until the systems and policies that keep people in poverty were changed. For 40 years, CCHD has funded community groups that seek justice and create lasting change. Please remember that 25% of our local collection’s proceeds stay here in our diocese to fight poverty in our communities. Fight poverty in America. Defend human dignity. Give to the CCHD Collection.
