FATHER'S TWO CENTS WORTH
Well, Christmas has arrived, and we welcome the presence of Christ into our lives. I received a note on Wednesday that Msgr. Eichenseer is not expected to live until Christmas. He will have a real Christmas as he goes to meet his creator and savior. Pray for him! But for the rest of us, I hope that the time of Advent has given us the opportunity to prepare ourselves for the coming of Christ into our lives in a more vibrant and beautiful way. I hope that the joy of Christmas is that God is alive in us, with peace and love. May your Christmas this year, and the New Year be times of great contentment because God is with you and alive in you! God’s peace be with you!
Since New Year’s Day is on a Sunday this year, our mass schedule will be the same as on a regular Sunday: Saturday at 5:30 P.M., and Sunday at 8:00 and 10:30 A.M.
Many thanks to all those persons who came to finish the decorating of our church! We had a great crew to facilitate the work, and all seemed to work together. Some Confirmation candidates came to get in some of the service hours. Work when you can!
Many thanks for the Christmas cards and gifts that have come to us over the past weeks. You are truly a generous and appreciative parish. We thank you for your prayers and assure you of our prayers and services to the best of our abilities.
Fr. Abraham is leaving on Christmas Day to go on vacation to his home in Nigeria. We wish him a safe journey both going and returning, and the assurance of our prayers. He will return on January 31st.
There is a Red Cross Blood Drive on Thursday of this week in our school cafeteria. I encourage anyone who can give blood to please come and share your gift of life with some other person who is in dire need of it. If you remember from the Mission, Father Lukefahr told us about the Jewish concept that blood is the real source of life, and that when Jesus was bleeding from the scourging and crucifixion, it was viewed as his life being poured out for our salvation, our life. Giving blood is life-saving! When you give blood, you are saving a life that can be saved in no other way. That is why giving blood is not just an ordinary process, but a special event that gives life to another, and at the same time helps your own system regenerate for your own safety. And you have the satisfaction that you have done something heroic—saved a life!
A reminder to all to pick up your parish contribution envelopes in the breezeway between the church and the rectory. We begin using them next Sunday as we start a new year. In supporting your parish church, you are leaving a legacy to future generations that we have enjoyed from those who went before us. We did not build these buildings, but we use them and are glad that they are here. The same applies to our school operations. We are all family, and as such, we need to support one another, and not hold ourselves excused. If your envelopes are not out on the table, notify the rectory. And children’s envelopes can be obtained at the rectory. Teach your children the value of Stewardship!
Again, thanks for all you have done for Holy Childhood Parish this Past year!

EUCHARISTIC ADORATION
"We need to go to the Lord first, continually and last. When we are sad, He is our consolation. When we have no joy, He brings us hope.
When we are weak, He is our strength. When we are frightened, He is our courage. He heals us when we need to be healed, and fills us with all that we need, when we go to Him.
He will not impose His will upon us. We decide, ourselves, whether or not to be open to the Lord and to all the incredible gifts He gives. "
