- Holy
Childhood of Jesus Catholic School
- Holy Childhood School (HCS) was founded in 1859. It provides the
opportunity to promote Catholic values, as well as a complete and thorough
academic experience. The school program is well-rounded and grounded by
spiritually focused programs, in addition to our holistic academic
requirements. HCS holds a Certificate of Illinois State recognition and all
teachers are state certified and members of the NCEA. Many volunteer
opportunities are available.
-
HCS Board of Education
- The HCS Board of Education is open to both men and women. It consists of
seven elected lay members who serve in terms of three years each. The Diocesan
Board of Education sets the policy for Holy Childhood School. The principal
serves the board in a non-member, advisory and consultation capacity. The
School Board meets monthly on the third Thursday of the month at 7:00pm in the
Meeting/Music Room.
-
H.O.P.E.
- H.O.P.E. (Holy Childhood Organization of Parents and Educators) is a
service organization dedicated to supporting the school and teachers through
special events and fundraisers. H.O.P.E. meets monthly, September through May,
on the first Tuesday of the month at 6:45pm in the cafeteria.
- Parish School of Religion (PSR)
- Holy Childhood Parish offers religious and spiritual instructions for
students attending public schools. It encompasses grades 1 to 8 in an
elementary and Jr. High program. Parents and parish volunteers are asked to
participate as catechists and helpers.
- Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA)
- The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults is a process of sharing the
beliefs of the Roman Catholic Church with persons interested in becoming
Catholic. We gather weekly from September to just after Easter to ask
questions, to discuss, to pray and to share our journey toward God. Each of us
has a wonderful story of how God works in our lives. Parishioners are invited
to help support the process as Sponsors or by speaking on special topics.
