- Eucharistic Adoration
- Eucharistic Adoration is offered every Saturday from 9 to 10 am and on
Tuesdays following 8:00am Mass until 7:00pm. Everyone is welcome to come and
pray or you may commit to a specific hour of prayer each Tuesday by calling
Mary Ellen Mueller at 566-9529.
-
- Ministry of Prayer and Praise
- This is a spiritual ministry in which we offer all prayers, joys and
sufferings to God for the salvation of souls. All parishioners are
eligible to become members, including, but not limited to, the sick,
the handicapped, and the homebound.
-
- All you have to do is to pray for the world, especially members of our parish.
You don't have to say special prayers, just continue your same spiritual
exercises. We will keep in contact with you and send you prayers
according to the spirit of the seasons of the Church year. You may say
these if you wish.
-
- Members are asked to pray and offer sacrifices for the parish and the
church as a whole. The only commitment is to pray daily. This doesn't mean that you won't enjoy your social life.
Joy is a prayer -- one of the gifts of the Holy Spirit. To be a whole person, God wants you to
have leisure time to enjoy the good things He gives you. A whole
person is a holy person.
-
- There are no meetings or dues. The parish is privileged to have your
prayers. From time to
time, thoughts on prayer are mailed out. This letter may give intentions to pray for at that time. Please join us!
Time commitment of a few minutes each day is requested. Sign up at the
Rectory and you will be commissioned by the pastor at a special Mass.
You will be presented an olive-wood cross from the Holy Land, a prayer book,
and a certificate of membership.
We form a great body of holy people bringing
prayers before our Lord. As a special ministry within the Church, God will
bless you and your loved ones as well as the members of our parish, the Church
and the world.

Vocation/Home Chalice Program
To encourage vocations, a parish family takes home the traveling chalice
for two weeks, during which we ask the family to honor the sacred vessel as a
reminder of Mass and the priest celebrant and to pray for vocations. The
chalice is then returned and will be transferred during Mass to another
family. A prayer pamphlet accompanies the chalice. The time commitment is
based on the number of volunteers.
Prayer Chain
Individuals pray daily in private for the sick and for special needs of
the parish. Volunteers are needed to pray daily, also to participate in a
telephone chain in cases of immediate emergencies. There are no scheduled
meetings.
Contact Mary Ellen
Mueller (566-9529) to participate.
Men's Ministry
Join your fellow
men (18 and above) for fellowship, food, prayer, and discussion as we explore
contemporary issues and our Catholic faith. We meet in the Parish Center on
the third Saturday of every month at 7:30 AM where we encourage one another on
our Christian journeys and strive to
become better husbands, fathers, grandfathers and members of our community.
Contact Joe Wingate (980-5068) or
Scott Anderson (448-0008) for more information.
Ministry to the Sick & Aged
Through this ministry we are able to care for those who are shut-in, in
the hospital, or who are in nursing homes. Personal visits, phone calls and
possibly taking them the Eucharist are ways we accomplish this ministry.
Volunteers are always welcome.
Small Christian Communities
You are invited to join one of several small study groups of 6 - 14 people who meet regularly
to discuss selected
Catholic resources and to encourage one another to grow in faith. The
parish has about 10 groups which meet on
various days of the week and may focus on a recommended section of the Bible in
union with groups around the
Diocese or may choose to focus on different interests related to the Catholic
faith. Contact John Pettinger to participate.
The Honeymooners -- Building and Maintaining Strong
Happy Marriages
The
Holy Childhood Parish Marriage Retreat is held one weekend a year at
the Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows in Belleville. On Saturday afternoon, we attend Mass together, then enjoy a romantic dinner.
In the evening we listen to speakers, share stories and so much more,
then retire to your hotel room at the Shrine. On Sunday, begin with breakfast at the hotel,
followed by speakers and
lunch prepared by the Shrine Restaurant. You devote the weekend
to celebrating the special Sacrament that you and your spouse share!
