Confirmation Packet

This fall the eighth grade students at Holy Childhood School and in the PSR are continuing their faith journey toward Confirmation. There are usually several paperwork items that need to be taken care of early in the preparation process. Below you will find information regarding Confirmation, and hopefully, many of your questions will be answered by the following descriptions.

  • Service Hours
Each candidate is required to perform 36 service hours in preparation for Confirmation. The hours should be divided equally - 12 hours in each - between family, community, and parish. Summer is quickly approaching, and this is a great time to begin service hours. Keep in mind that service hours are service. Once an individual has accumulated the 36 hours, it is highly encouraged that he or she continues serving others. Don’t just stop at 36 hours.

  • Sponsor
Candidate should begin the selection of a sponsor for Confirmation. A sponsor must be a practicing, Confirmed Catholic. The sponsor will be a mentor and guide to the candidate. Parents already play the leading role in the candidate’s faith journey, so sponsors should be someone other than a parent. Please be sure that your sponsor is someone that meets the criteria and can meet with you.

  • Vital Information
A copy of the candidate’s Baptismal Certificate and the date of their First Communion would be extremely helpful. Both are supposed to be in their permanent file. Candidates will need this information to complete the Registration for Confirmation form as well as their Confirmation shields.

Choose a Sponsor

Each Candidate for Confirmation must choose a sponsor. A sponsor should be someone other than your parents who can mentor and encourage you through the year and beyond.

A sponsor must be:

  • a minimum of 18 years of age

  • a practicing Catholic

  • available to be present for Confirmation in the spring

  • available for question and answer interaction with Candidate

  • able to attend the Rite of Enrollment & Acceptance in the fall

  • Facebook
  • Youtube
