Holy Childhood Church Finance Council Meeting Summary


Date: November 11, 2025 (7pm in Rectory Conference Rm)

Council Members Present: Fr. Mark Stec, Paula Proffitt, Kent Hoerchler, Matt Athy, Mike Brennan, and Margie Berry.

Absent: Margaret Wienstroer


A. Opening Prayer – Fr. Mark led opening prayer.


B. Approval of Minutes – October meeting canceled. No minutes to approve.


C. Review of Finances

a. Monthly financial reports were reviewed by the Council. New doors in parish center gathering space and breezeway have been paid in full. $10,000 paid prior to order and $15920 paid upon completion of work.

b. Knights of Columbus Loan – Total of $90,000 loaned to parish for church renovation. Repaid $10,000 in August 2025. KC to forgive $11,000 as a donation toward cost of the completed door project. Parish owes remainder of $69,000 to KC.

c. Picnic money will transfer to General Fund to pay off Diocesan payments due.

d. Weekly Donations – Loose collections are increasing so will continue. Reporting of donations in bulletin will be updated. No longer have a ‘kids collection’ and ‘Adult’ wording will be changed to ‘envelopes’.


D. Review of any Proposal

a. No new proposals for the Church.

b. Mike provided update on school window project. Estimated cost is $350,000. HCS received $105,000 from 2024 & 2025 Annual Dinner Auction, Fund the Need donations. A decision on whether to proceed with window installation in June 2026 will need to be made in February; therefore, a letter requesting donations for this project will be sent to parishioners next week. A copy of the request was presented to this Council.

School window project to include all windows in the main school building and east side. The gym and cafeteria are not included. Asbestos abatement will be done by Cen Pro Services per Diocesan recommendation. Air Testing is also needed and included in cost estimate. The parish will be responsible for removing part of the ceiling above windows for abatement process.

New doors for the school, cost of $30,900 , are also included in the initial estimate of $350,000. Abatement of new doors is not included in this cost.

The cost of new window shades/rollers are not included in project estimates as well.

The parish will need to file a Resolution with the Diocese for approval of this project.

New windows will be energy efficient and made of tempered glass for safety. Lowest l level window will be laminated for increased security. New windows will be frosted, Standard 10, and Low E. Mike will bring a copy of the project quote/contract for the Council review at December meeting. Completion of school window installation is targeted for August 1st if work begins mid-late June. Finishing touches may take longer.


E. New Business –

Discussed re-doing the ramp on the northwest side of church and repairs to front steps at main entrance. Matt offered to donate new rails.


F. Closing Prayer – Fr. Mark led the closing prayer.
