Holy Childhood Church Finance Council Meeting Summary
Date: July 08, 2025 (7pm in Rectory Conference Rm)
Council Members Present: Fr. Mark Stec, Paula Proffitt, Kent Hoerchler, Margaret Wienstroer, and Margie Berry
Opening Prayer – Fr. Mark led opening prayer.
Approval of Minutes – Approved June 10th meeting minutes. No revisions requested.
Review of Finances – Monthly financial reports were reviewed by the Council. Fr. Mark clarified Statement of Activity and Transaction items as needed. Fr. Mark planning to meet with Meryl Lynch to review parish’s investments.
Review of any Proposals – Bids to replace air conditioner & heater in the Gathering Space were received from J&R Mechanical and Baylor HVAC. Proposals were reviewed and the Council recommended accepting Baylor HVAC proposal for installation of a mini-split unit.
Old Business
Parish Doors/Locks/Keys
i. Per Fr. Mark, the new doors should be ready July 20th. Fr. Mark reported that the door fobs are working well. Fr. Mark has an app for doors to control access remotely. Currently, the following groups/persons have been issued a fob:
· HCCCW
· CI Recovery
· Knights of Columbus
· Paula Proffitt, Trustee
· Saturday Men’s Group
· School Board
· Vinnie Vagano
· Youth Ministry
Campus Assessment
i. Estimates for HVAC for east entrance/parish hall – handouts reviewed and recommendation given to Fr. Mark (see Proposals above)
School Trash Disposal (Mike) – Discussion deferred till Sept meeting.
New Business – Reviewed FY 2025-2026 Budget Estimates. Discussion regarding need for Pre-School program to be self-sufficient. This program should be making money for HCC. Currently it is not. Discussed that 65% of HCC money is going for HCS subsidy. Per Diocese policy, this should only be 40%. Anything above 40% is included in the annual Cathedraticum assessment in determining the parish’s financial obligation to the diocese.
Currently, there is a deficit of approx. $32,000 for the proposed FY 2025-2026 budget. Some of which may be offset by a decrease in school subsidy and Diocesan tax.
Fr. Mark reported that a full-time maintenance employee has been hired for the school.
There will be No Finance Council meeting in August d/t start of school and parish picnic. Financial reports will still be sent to members for review. Next Council meeting will be Sept 9th.
